St John’s Island Lodge, formerly known as the St John’s Island Campsite and Holiday Bungalow, reopens today (1 June) after the completion of Phase One upgrading of the Lodge (refer to map).

Undertaken by the Singapore Land Authority (SLA), the upgrading includes improved amenities such as smart lock systems for checking in/out, new kitchenware, electric hobs, energy saving lights and paintwork. The Lodge also has a new BBQ pit area built with recycled wood from the island. The upgrading commenced in June 2018, after the SLA took over the management of the Southern Islands from Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC) in March 2017.

With the re-opening of the Lodge, the SLA has also themed the overnight accommodation facilities after native wildlife often sighted on and around St John’s Island. The holiday bungalow is named Eagle, after the white-bellied sea eagle, and the three campsites at the Lodge are named Dolphin after the Indo-Pacific humpback dolphin, Turtle after the hawksbill turtle and Otter after the smooth-coated otter.

Daily bookings, instead of booking in blocks of four days, are now available. The booking fees for the bungalow, Eagle (capacity of 10 pax) are $21.40 per day on weekdays and $42.80 per day on weekends.  The booking fees for the campsites, Otter (capacity of 50 pax), Turtle (capacity of 60 pax) and Dolphin (capacity of 132 pax) range from $74.90 per day to $165.85 per day on weekdays, and $117.70 per day to $262.15 per day on weekends.  More details are in the attached Annex.

The public can make online bookings for these facilities on St John’s Island Lodge at https://app.sla.gov.sg/TOL/.

St John’s Island Lodge will remain open during the annual Kusu Pilgrimage Season during the ninth lunar month.

In July 2020, the SLA will embark on Phase Two of the upgrading works of St John’s Island Lodge, which will see upgrades to bedding at the Dolphin and Turtle campsites.
