Sale of first agri-tainment land sites for agricultural R & D and commercial uses
The Singapore Land Authority (SLA) has awarded HLH Agri R & D and Yoli Technologies, the tenders for the very first three agri-tainment land parcels in Lim Chu Kang. The public tender was conducted last month. HLH Agri R & D won the bid for the largest of the three plots of land at $880,000. The plot has a land area of about 50,900 square metres, or about six soccer fields. Yoli Technologies won the bid for the other two plots of land at $476,336 and $398,000 respectively. The total land area of the two plots is almost 27,500 square metres, or equivalent to the size of about three soccer fields. The sites were offered for sale on 20-year leases. All three land parcels will be used by the winning bidders for agri-tainment purposes. Please refer to Annex A.
Most of the tenderers' ideas were consistent with the comprehensive list of proposed uses drawn up by the various planning and technical agencies for the tender of the 3 parcels. A total of 12 bids were received. Eight bids were for agri-tainment uses and four bids were for agriculture uses.
SLA's Deputy Director of Land Sales, Mr Teo Jing Kok, said: "We are pleased to award the sites. SLA would like to applaud the efforts and vision of all the entrepreneurs that tendered for the 3 sites. They were willing to try out something new and different to help make Singapore a more exciting place to live, work and play in. We would also like to thank the awardees for their support for the land sales and, more importantly, for taking their bold initiatives to help turn Lim Chu Kang into a rustic recreational hinterland. SLA will continue to work closely with the awardees, interested individuals and businesses, existing farmers and other government agencies to formulate win-win strategies for designated agri-tainment and agricultural sites."
The award process for the three agri-tainment and agricultural sites is no different from that for other Government land sales. The tenders are awarded to the highest eligible bids. Papageno Gourmet Pte Ltd, a bidder for the largest plot of land, wrote to SLA to withdraw their bid due to a change in their business plans. In accordance with the Government's tendering procedures, HLH Agri R & D was awarded the tender for that State land parcel as the highest eligible tenderer.
