SLA

1. The Singapore Land Authority (SLA) has awarded 51 Fairways Drive to Bukit Timah Saddle Club (BTSC) on 1 Feb 2013. The site has been approved for equestrian use including horse-riding activities for the general public.

2. In all, SLA received six bids for the property (Refer to Annex A for the list of bidders). In evaluating the bids submitted, SLA considered among other factors, the tendered price, concepts, proposed uses, track record and financial health of the bidders. The selected tender was the one that best met the criteria, including compliance with tender specifications. The tenancy will be for an initial period of 3-years and is renewable for another 3 years or less until December 2018. Existing sub-tenants can negotiate with BTSC to enter into fresh tenancy agreements if they wish to continue their business operations.

3. As per the tender requirement and to enable more people to enjoy horse riding, BTSC will continue to make horse riding available to the general public. According to BTSC, public riders need not be members of the Club and lessons will be available at the Club six days a week from Tuesday to Sunday. Interested members of the public should consult BTSC directly.

4. SLA had put out 51 Fairways Drive for public tender as it was informed in 2011 that the site, with a land area of 104,567.2 sq m and an approximate Gross Floor Area of 2,202.3 sq m, would be available for interim use till 2018. This would ensure fairness and transparency so that all interested parties who wish to run a saddle club could have equal opportunity to bid for the use of the site.
