Celebrate Singapore’s Golden Jubilee at the iconic Tanjong Pagar Railway Station
Fun filled day with an old school-styled carnival and Live NDP Screening
In conjunction with SG50, the iconic former Tanjong Pagar Railway Station will be open from 9am to 9pm on National Day. The Singapore Land Authority (SLA) is organising the inaugural “retrolicious” carnival to transport members of the public back in time to our yesteryears, with a series of old school activities until 6pm. This is followed by a live screening of the National Day Parade till 9pm.
2 So what can the public expect? A carnival is never complete without rides. The ever-favourite single player bungee for kids, popular carousel rides and the thrilling bumper car rides will enthrall the whole family.
Pit your skills in local game challenges
3 Members of the public can also pit your skills against one another in nostalgic games challenges, such as five stones and chapteh. Participants stand a chance to bring home customised tokens or childhood knick knacks depending on your luck! Alternatively, try your hand at pick-up sticks or G-O-A-L, a reinvention of the game “goli” (marble), where you throw a ping pong ball into a bowl within a fixed boundary.
Other highlights
4 Other highlights include food booths and bazaars, balloon sculpting, face painting, a photohunt, photo booths with retro props and a photo exhibition featuring items from the different eras of Singapore’s history. SLA will also set up a board known as “Faces of Singapore” for visitors to share their wishes and dreams for SG50.
#SLAcelebratesSG50
5 We encourage all visitors to like the SLA Facebook page and upload all photos during the event to their Facebook, with the hashtag #SLAcelebratesSG50. One lucky winner will stand to walk away with a goodie bag containing exclusive SLA collectibles.
6 Tan Boon Khai, Chief Executive, SLA said: “Since the former Tanjong Pagar Railway Station was vested to the State in 2011, it has been popular with Singaporeans young and old, due to its historical significance and rustic charm. As Singapore celebrates its Golden Jubilee, we welcome everyone to join us in our celebration of Singapore’s 50th Birthday at our iconic national monument.
7 Visitors are encouraged to take public transport as the carpark lots within Tanjong Pagar Railway Station will be utilised for the carnival rides. The nearest carparks available include those next to the station as well as at Blk 10 Everton Road and Blk 108 Spottiswoode Park Road. Please refer to Annex A for more details.
8 In view of the preparation work and set-up necessary to make the carnival a success, as well as the reinstatement works after the event, Tanjong Pagar Railway Station will not be opened on both 7 and 10 August. Join us on 9 August for a big bang!

About SLA
Singapore Land Authority (SLA) is a statutory board with the Ministry of Law. Its mission is to optimise land resources for the social and economic development of Singapore. SLA manages some 12,000 hectares of State land and about 5,000 State buildings, which have largely been tenanted out for a variety of uses. It also manages land sales, leases, acquisitions and allocation, developing and marketing land-related information, and maintaining the national land information database through digitised land information services. Being the national land registration authority for property transactions, SLA issues and guarantees land titles in Singapore. It also manages and maintains the national land survey system, where boundaries or legal limits of properties are defined, based on a coordinated cadastre survey system. The use of geospatial information is also spearheaded by SLA through a national collaborative environment where geospatial data, policies and technologies are established and defined, thereby fostering innovation, knowledge and value creation for the Government, enterprises and community.
