Kusu Pilgrimage Season 2023
The annual Kusu Pilgrimage Season (KPS) will take place from 15 October to 12 November 2023.
2 Visitors who wish to visit Kusu Island during the KPS can purchase a ferry ticket via the website of Singapore Island Cruise & Ferry Services Pte Ltd (SIC), the appointed ferry operator, at www.islandcruise.com.sg, or by scanning the QR code below. Please select “Kusu Pilgrimage 2023”. Visitors may also purchase tickets in person at SIC’s KPS counter at Marina South Pier. The link and QR code can also be found on SLA’s website.
Upon completion of the purchase, SIC will send a confirmation email to the purchaser. The confirmation email must be shown at the counter of the ferry operator, Singapore Island Cruise & Ferry Services Pte Ltd, located at Marina South Pier, to obtain the ferry tickets.
3 During the KPS, the first ferry will depart from Marina South Pier at 7am daily on weekdays, and 6.30am on weekends and public holidays. The last ferry will depart from Marina South Pier at 5pm and leave Kusu Island at 7pm daily. For the duration of the KPS, all regular ferry services to St John’s Island will not stop by Kusu Island on its return trip to Marina South Pier. Please refer to the Annex for information on ferry services.
4 As weekends are a popular period during the KPS, visitors are advised to visit Kusu Island on weekdays. They are also advised to stay home if feeling unwell. Visitors are advised to bring their own water and to wear comfortable attire and shoes to walk around the island. Overnight stays and bringing of pets to Kusu Island are not permitted.
100th Anniversary of the Da Bo Gong Temple
5 2023 marks the 100th anniversary of the Da Bo Gong Temple on Kusu Island, which was constructed in 1923. More visitors may be expected to make the annual pilgrimage to Kusu Island to commemorate the Temple’s centennial milestone.
Status of Kusu Island Keramat
6 A fire broke out at the keramat on Kusu Island on 17 April 2022. The fire was quickly extinguished, and no injuries were reported.
7 The keramat caretaker has erected temporary tentages to shelter devotees, and the keramat is open for visits during the KPS.
8 Last year, the set of stairs which visitors usually use to ascend to the keramat was closed. Both sets of stairs, which lead up to and down from the keramat, will be open for use during the KPS.
Public Transportation to Marina South Pier
9 Members of the public are advised to use public transportation to get to Marina South Pier because of limited parking lots. Visitors can either take SBS Transit Bus 400 directly to Marina South Pier or take the MRT to Marina South Pier MRT station. As the Marina South Pier carpark will not be available on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays during this period, free shuttle buses will run between The Meadows Car Park at Gardens by the Bay, and Marina South Pier from 6am to 8pm, every 15 to 20 minutes on weekends and public holidays.
10 Members of the public who have queries can contact SLA via the online feedback form on the SLA website, or at the QR code below.
