BG (NS) Lam Joon Khoi appointed SLA's new Chief Executive
- BG (NS) Lam Joon Khoi, the Chief Executive Officer of the National
Environment Agency (NEA), will be appointed the Chief Executive of the
Singapore Land Authority (SLA) effective 1 May 2005. Mr Tan Kee Yong, who has
been SLA's Chief Executive since its establishment in June 2001, will be
taking up an appointment in the Ministry of Education as its Deputy Secretary
(Services).
- BG (NS) Lam, 46, joined the civil service in 1976. He has held various
senior appointments in the Singapore Armed Forces, Ministry of Education,
Ministry of Finance and NEA. Prior to NEA, BG Lam was Deputy Secretary
(Services), Ministry of Finance. In 1996, BG Lam was awarded the Public
Administration Medal (Silver) (Military) for his contributions to the public
service.
- Mr Tan Kee Yong, 48, joined the administrative service in 1981. He has
held various senior appointments in the National Development and Home Affairs
ministries and also in the Public Service Commission. Prior to his appointment
as CE of SLA, he was the Deputy Secretary (Administration) in the Ministry of
Defence. He was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Silver) in 1996 for
his outstanding contributions to the public service.
- Mr Tan played a key role in the formation of SLA. Under his leadership and
guidance, the four land departments - Land Office, Singapore Land Registry,
Survey Department and Land Systems Support Unit - were smoothly integrated
into SLA. Some of SLA's more significant initiatives implemented under his
leadership include the opening up of vacant State land for community use, the
use of options in the sale of State land, partnering the private sector in the
sale of State land and management of vacant State land, and the implementation
of an electronic lodgement system, enabling land-related documents to be
lodged electronically, the first of its kind in ASEAN.
