BG (NS) Lam Joon Khoi

• BG (NS) Lam was born in Singapore in 1958. He graduated with a First Class BA(Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College of Science & Technology, University of London, under the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) Overseas Scholarship. He also acquired a Masters degree in Management Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in USA.
   
• BG (NS) Lam served in the SAF from December 1976 to September 1997. He was appointed to the Administrative Service on 2 June 1993. He was seconded from the Administrative Service to continue his service as a regular officer in the SAF. He held various command and staff appointments in the SAF. He was promoted to the rank of Brigadier-General in July 1996 and was Director, Joint Operations and Planning Directorate before his return to the Administrative Service in September 1997. Upon his return, he was appointed as Deputy Secretary (Policy) in the Ministry of Education and was subsequently posted to the Ministry of Finance as Deputy Secretary (Services) in November 1998.
   
• BG (NS) Lam was awarded "The Public Administration Medal (Silver) (Military)" in 1996.
   
• BG (NS) Lam was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the National Environment Agency on 1 July 2002. He is responsible for the operations and development of the new statutory board formed under the Ministry of the Environment, on that same date, to address public health and environmental concerns of Singapore.
   
• BG (NS) Lam is currently a Board Director of Singapore Technologies Aerospace Ltd.
   
• He is married with 3 children.
